There is a variety of remote controls for televisions, media players like DVD player, sound systems and other electronic devices. As users are experiencing the practicality of remote controls, they also have problems with them and call customer service centers. Most of those expensive calls originate from dead battery problem. ZigBee Remote Control standard is meant to provide longer lifetime for the batteries due to its low power scheme; greener, more flexible and simpler usage. Remote controls are considered such that they can work even if they are behind interior walls or glass. This invalidates the line of sight requirement of the old infrared technology for remote controls.
